The history of my passion has begun nearly 30 years ago, when I was a young boy fascinated by the rock culture. The music of such bands as: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple made an enormous impression on me, then. As a result, I wished to start playing the guitar myself. At the age of 14 my parents gave me an instrument which emitted the first sounds I produced. Later on, everything took its own course: two years of playing the classical guitar under a teacher's supervision and the first band (I played the bass, then the lead guitar).

My first "plugged" guitar was bought for a considerable amount of money in a recognized, at that time, private guitar factory. Unfortunately for me (or perhaps fortunately instead), I was not satisfied with the instrument. This event appeared to be a turning point in my life, for I decided to build a guitar with my own hands. It turned out very quickly that guitar building is my passion. With every created instrument I gained new experiences and developed my luthier skills.

Having been engaged, at the same time, in repairing guitars, I was able to notice numerous technological solutions used by other makers. In 1994, when I got a commission from a famous Polish bassist, Zbyszek Wrombel, to make a 6-string bass, my heart trembled. It was a great challenge and to tell you the truth, I was not at all sure if I would manage. Eventually, I succeeded. Since I had managed to create probably one of the best custom guitars in Poland at that time, ensuing commissions from many acclaimed bassists followed. It was then I have discovered that the thing which stirs up my enthusiasm is making bass guitars.

During 1995 -1996, for the first time, my guitars won more considerable, official awards - the Intermedia music fair award for the best Polish product. Not only was it a pleasant distinction, but also a signal that my work brings joy to people, and the good opinions of musicians using my bass guitars were and are always going to be the most precious to me.

Currently, the GMR company creates only unique custom basses, using traditional methods of the craft of lutherie. We not only use hand-picked kinds of wood (in most cases exceptional specimens), but also the best accessories; however it is the passion we put in our work that decides, above others, about the highest quality of our guitars. The GMR staff comprises four talented luthiers (including me), who put their soul into work, creating beautiful, and what is more, excellently sounding instruments.
